1st Chapter 18th Sloka

द्रुपदो द्रौपदेयाश्च सर्वशः पृथिवीपते ।

सौभद्रश्च महाबाहुः शङ्खान् दध्मुः पृथक् पृथक् ॥१-१८॥

 

drupado draupadeyāśca sarvaśaḥ pṛthivīpate |

saubhadraśca mahābāhuḥ śaṅ-khān dadhmuḥ pṛthak pṛthak ||1-18||

 

द्रुपदः 1/1 द्रौपदेयाः 1/3 0 सर्वशः 0 पृथिवीपते S/1

सौभद्रः 1/1 0 महाबाहुः 1/1 शङ्खान् 2/3 दध्मुः III/3 पृथक् 0 पृथक्  0॥१-१८॥       

 

·       द्रुपदः [drupadaḥ] = Drupada = द्रुपद + कर्तरि of [दध्मुः] 1/1

·       द्रोपदेयाः [draupadeyāḥ] = Draupadeyas, five sons of Daupadī = द्रोपदेय + कर्तरि of [दध्मुः] 1/1

·       [ca] = and = अव्ययम्

·       सर्वशः [sarvaśaḥ] = on all sides = अव्ययम्

·       पृथिवीपते [pṛthivīpate] = O King! = पृथिवीपति + सम्बोधने 1/1

o   पृथिव्याः (of the earth) पतिः (lord) पृथिवीपतिः । Address of धृतराष्ट्र

·       सौभद्रः [Saubhadraḥ] = Saubhadra, a son of Subhadrā, a wife of Arjuna = सौभद्र + कर्तरि of [दध्मुः] 1/1

·       [ca] = and = अव्ययम्

·       महाबाहुः [mahābāhuḥ] = one who has mighty arms = महाबाहु + Adj. to सौभद्रः 1/1

·       शङ्खान् [śaṅkhān] = conches = शङ्ख + कर्मणि of [दध्मुः] 2/1

·       दध्मुः [dadhmuḥ] = blew = ध्मा (1P) to blow + लिट्/कर्तरि/III/3

·       पृथक् पृथक् [pṛthak pṛthak] = separately = अव्ययम्

॥१-१८॥          

 

O the ruler of earth (Dhṛtarāṣṭra)! King Drupada, the sons of Draupadī and the mighty armed son of Subhadrā (Abhimanyu), all blew their own conches.

 

O the ruler of earth (पृथिवीपते S/1) (Dhṛtarāṣṭra)! King Drupada (द्रुपदः 1/1), the sons of Draupadī (द्रौपदेयाः 1/3) and ( 0) the mighty armed (महाबाहुः 1/1) son of Subhadrā (सौभद्रः 1/1 0) (Abhimanyu), all (सर्वशः 0) blew (दध्मुः III/3) their own (पृथक् 0 पृथक्  0) conches (शङ्खान् 2/3).

 

Sentence: (Verse 17 and 18 together)

काश्यः 1/1 परमेष्वासः 1/1 0,

शिखण्डी 1/1 महारथः 1/1 0,

धृष्टद्युम्नः 1/1 0,

विराटः 1/1 0,  

सात्यकिः 1/1 अपराजितः 1/1 0,

द्रुपदः 1/1 0,

द्रौपदेयाः 1/3 0,

सौभद्रः 1/1 महाबाहुः 1/1 0,

सर्वशः 0 पृथक् 0 पृथक्  0 शङ्खान् 2/3 दध्मुः III/3 on all side those warriors blew their own conches separately.

पृथिवीपते S/1 !
