5th Chapter 6th Sloka



सन्न्यासस्तु महाबाहो दुःखमाप्तुमयोगतः ।
योगयुक्तो मुनिर्ब्रह्म नचिरेणाधिगच्छति ॥५.६॥

sannyāsastu mahābāho duḥkhamāptumayogataḥ |
yogayukto munirbrahma nacireṇādhigacchati ||5.6||

सन्न्यासः 1/1 तु 0 महाबाहो 8/1 दुःखम् 0 आप्तुम् 0 अयोगतः 0
योगयुक्तः 1/1 मुनिः 1/1 ब्रह्म 2/1 नचिरेण 0 अधिगच्छति III/1 ॥५.६॥


·         सन्न्यासः [sannyāsaḥ] = renunciation (of action) = सन्न्यास (m.) + 1/1
·         तु [tu] = whereas = अव्ययम्
·         महाबाहो [mahābāho] = Oh! Mighty armed one! = महाबाहु (m.) + सम्बोधने 1/1
·         दुःखम् [duḥkham] = difficult = अव्ययम्
·         आप्तुम् [āptum] = to gain = अव्ययम्
·         अयोगतः [ayogataḥ] = without karma yoga = अव्ययम्
·         योगयुक्तः [yogayuktaḥ] = one who is committed to a life of karma yoga = योगयुक्त (m.) + 1/1
·         मुनिः [muniḥ] = one who is capable of reasoning = मुनि (m.) + 1/1
·         ब्रह्म [brahma] = Brahman = ब्रह्मन् (n.) + कर्मणि 2/1
·         नचिरेण [nacireṇa] = quickly = अव्ययम्
·         अधिगच्छति [adhigacchati] = gains = अधि + गम् (1P) to gain + लट्/कर्तरि/III/1


Renunciation of action, O Arjuna, is difficult to accomplish without karma yoga. Whereas, one who is capable of reasoning, who is committed to a life of karma yoga, gains Brahman quickly.

Sentence 1:
महाबाहो 8/1 सन्न्यासः 1/1 दुःखम् 0 आप्तुम् 0 अयोगतः 0
Renunciation of action (सन्न्यासः 1/1), O Arjuna (महाबाहो 8/1), is difficult (दुःखम् 0) to accomplish (आप्तुम् 0) without karma yoga (अयोगतः 0).

Sentence 2:
योगयुक्तः 1/1 तु 0 मुनिः 1/1 ब्रह्म 2/1 नचिरेण 0 अधिगच्छति III/1 ॥५.६॥
Whereas (तु 0), one who is capable of reasoning (मुनिः 1/1), who is committed to a life of karma yoga (योगयुक्तः 1/1), gains (अधिगच्छति III/1) Brahman (ब्रह्म 2/1) quickly (नचिरेण 0).
