5th Chapter 10th Sloka

ब्रह्मण्याधाय कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा करोति यः ।
लिप्यते न स पापेन पद्मपत्रमिवाम्भसा ॥५.१०॥

brahmaṇyādhāya karmāṇi saṅgaṃ tyaktvā karoti yaḥ |
lipyate na sa pāpena padmapatramivāmbhasā ||5.10||

ब्रह्मणि 7/1 आधाय 0 कर्माणि 2/3 सङ्गम् 2/1 त्यक्त्वा 0 करोति III/1 यः 1/1
लिप्यते III/1 0 सः 1/1 पापेन 3/1 पद्मपत्रम् 1/1 इव 0 अम्भसा 3/1 ॥५.१०॥


·         ब्रह्मणि [brahmaṇi] = unto Brahman = ब्रह्मन् (n.) + 7/1
·         आधाय [ādhāya] = offering = अव्ययम्
o   आ + धा + ल्यप्
·         कर्माणि [karmāṇi] = actions = कर्म (n.) + कर्मणि to आधाय 2/3
·         सङ्गम् [saṅgam] = attachment = सङ्ग (m.) + कर्मणि to त्यक्त्वा 2/1
·         त्यक्त्वा [tyaktvā] = giving up = अव्ययम्
o   ज्यज् + क्त्वा
·         करोति [karoti] = does = कृ (8U) to do + लट्/कर्तरि/III/1
·         यः [yaḥ] = one who = यद् (pron. m.) + 1/1
·         लिप्यते [lipyate] = is touched = लिप् (6P) to gain + लट्/कर्मणि/III/1
·         [na] = not = अव्ययम्
·         सः [saḥ] = he = तद् (pron. m.) + 1/1
·         पापेन [pāpena] = by pāpa = पाप (n.) + कर्तरि 3/1
·         पद्मपत्रम् [padmapatram] = lotus leaf = पद्मपत्र (n.) + 1/1
o   पद्मस्य पत्रं पद्मपत्रम् (6T) ।
·         इव [iva] = just as = अव्ययम्
·         अम्भसा [ambhasā] = by water = अम्भस् (n.) + कर्तरि 3/1


The one who performs actions, giving up attachment, offering (one's actions) unto Brahman, is not affected by sin, just as the leaf of a lotus (is not wetted) by water.

Sentence 1:
यः 1/1 ब्रह्मणि 7/1 आधाय 0 सङ्गम् 2/1 त्यक्त्वा 0 कर्माणि 2/3 करोति III/1
सः 1/1 पापेन 3/1 0 लिप्यते III/1 पद्मपत्रम् 1/1 अम्भसा 3/1 ( 0 लिप्यते III/1) इव 0 ॥५.१०॥
The one who (यः 1/1) performs (करोति III/1) actions (कर्माणि 2/3), giving up (त्यक्त्वा 0) attachment (सङ्गम् 2/1), offering (आधाय 0) (one's actions) unto Brahman (ब्रह्मणि 7/1), is not ( 0) affected (सः 1/1 लिप्यते III/1) by sin (पापेन 3/1), just as (इव 0) the leaf of a lotus (पद्मपत्रम् 1/1) (is not wetted) by water (अम्भसा 3/1).
