4th Chapter 22nd Sloka



यदृच्छालभसन्तुष्टो द्वन्द्वातीतो विमत्सरः ।
समः सिद्धावसिद्धौ च कृत्वापि न निबध्यते ॥४.२

yadṛcchālabhasantuṣṭo dvandvātīto vimatsaraḥ |
samaḥ siddhāvasiddhau ca kṛtvāpi na nibadhyate ||4.22||


यदृच्छालभसन्तुष्टः 1/1 द्वन्द्वातीतः 1/1 विमत्सरः 1/1
समः 1/1 सिद्धौ 7/1 असिद्धौ 7/1 0 कृत्वा 0 अपि 0 0 निबध्यते III/1 ॥४.२


·         यदृच्छालभसन्तुष्टः [yadṛcchālabhasantuṣṭaḥ] = one who is happy with whatever comes by chance = यदृच्छालभसन्तुष्ट (m.) + 1/1
o   यदृच्छया लाभः यदृच्छालाभः (SS), तेन सन्तुष्टः यदृच्छालभसन्तुष्टः (3T) ।
·         द्वन्द्वातीतः [dvandvātītaḥ] = unaffected by the opposites = द्वन्द्वातीत (m.) + 1/1
o   द्वन्द्वम् अतीतः द्वन्द्वातीतः (2T) ।
·         विमत्सरः [vimatsaraḥ] = free from jealousy = विमत्सर (m.) + 1/1 
o   विगतः मत्सरः विमत्सरः (PB) ।
·         समः [samaḥ] = even-minded = सम (m.) + 1/1     
·         सिद्धौ [siddhau] = with reference to success = सिद्धि (f.) + अधिकरणे 7/1   
·         सिद्धौ [asiddhau] = with reference to failure = असिद्धि (f.) + अधिकरणे 7/1        
·         [ca] = and = अव्ययम्
·         कृत्वा [kṛtvā] = performing action= अव्ययम्
·         अपि [api] = even though = अव्ययम्
·         [na] = not = अव्ययम्
·         निबध्यते [nibadhyate] = is bound = नि + बध् (9P) to bind + लट्/कर्मणि/III/1

The one who is happy with whatever comes by chance, who is unaffected by the opposites, free from jealousy, and even-minded with reference to success and failure, is not bound even though performing action.


Sentence 1:
यदृच्छालभसन्तुष्टः 1/1 द्वन्द्वातीतः 1/1 विमत्सरः 1/1
समः 1/1 सिद्धौ 7/1 असिद्धौ 7/1 0 कृत्वा 0 अपि 0 0 निबध्यते III/1 ॥४.२
The one who is happy with whatever comes by chance (यदृच्छालभसन्तुष्टः 1/1), who is unaffected by the opposites (द्वन्द्वातीतः 1/1), free from jealousy (विमत्सरः 1/1), and even-minded (समः 1/1) with reference to success (सिद्धौ 7/1) and ( 0) failure (असिद्धौ 7/1), is not ( 0) bound (निबध्यते III/1) even though (अपि 0) performing action (कृत्वा 0).
