2nd Chapter 28th Sloka

अव्यक्तादीनि भूतानि व्यक्तमध्यानि भारत ।
अव्यक्तनिधनान्येव तत्र का परिदेवना ॥२.

avyaktādīni bhūtāni vyaktamadhyāni bhārata |
avyaktanidhanānyeva tatra kā paridevanā ||2.28||

अव्यक्तादीनि 1/3 भूतानि 1/3 व्यक्तमध्यानि 1/3 भारत 8/1
अव्यक्तनिधनानि 1/3 0 तत्र 0 का 1/1 परिदेवना 1/1 ॥२.२८॥

·         अव्यक्तादीनि [avyaktādīni] = the one for whom unmanifest is the beginning = अव्यक्तादि (n.) + 1/3
o   अव्यक्तः आदिः येषां ते अव्यक्तादीनि । 116B बहुव्रीहिसमासः ।
·         भूतानि [bhūtāni] = beings = भूत (n.) + 1/3
·         व्यक्तमध्यानि [vyaktamadhyāni] = the one for whom manifest is the middle = व्यक्तमध्य (n.) + 1/3
o   व्यक्तः मध्यः येषां ते व्यक्तमध्यानि । 116B बहुव्रीहिसमासः ।
·         भारत [bhārata] = O! descendant of Bharata (Arjuna) = भारत (m.) + 1/1
·         अव्यक्तनिधनानि [avyaktanidhanāni] = the one for whom unmanifest is the end = अव्यक्तनिधन (n.) + 1/3
o   अव्यक्तं निधनं येषां ते अव्यक्तनिधनानि । 116B बहुव्रीहिसमासः ।
·         एव [eva] = indeed = अव्ययम्
·         तत्र [tatra] = with reference to that = अव्ययम्
·         का [kā] = what = किम् (pron. f.) + 1/1
·         परिदेवना [paridevanā] = grief = परिदेवना (f.) + 1/1

All beings are unmanifest in the beginning, manifest in the middle, and again unmanifest in the end. What indeed is there to grieve about, O! Bhārata!

Sentence 1:
भूतानि 1/3 अव्यक्तादीनि 1/3 व्यक्तमध्यानि 1/3 अव्यक्तनिधनानि 1/3 0
All beings (भूतानि 1/3) are unmanifest in the beginning (अव्यक्तादीनि 1/3), manifest in the middle (व्यक्तमध्यानि 1/3), and indeed (ए 0) unmanifest in the end (अव्यक्तनिधनानि 1/3).

Sentence 2:
तत्र 0 का 1/1 परिदेवना 1/1 भारत 8/1 ॥२.२८॥

What (का 1/1) is there (तत्र 0) to grieve about (परिदेवना 1/1), O! Bhārata (भारत 8/1)!
