2nd Chapter 15th Sloka

यं हि न व्यथयन्त्येते पुरुषं पुरुषर्षभ ।
समदुःखसुखं धीरं सोऽमृतत्वाय कल्पते ॥२.१५॥
yaṃ hi na vyathayantyete puruṣaṃ puruṣarṣabha |
samaduḥkhasukhaṃ dhīraṃ so'mṛtatvāya kalpate ||2.15||

यम् 2/1 हि 0 0 व्यथयन्ति III/3 एते 1/3 पुरुषम् 2/1 पुरुषर्षभ 8/1
समदुःखसुखम् 2/1 धीरम् 2/1 सः 1/1 अमृतत्वाय 4/1 कल्पते III/1 ॥२.१५॥


·         यम् [yam] = which = यद् (pron. m.) + adj. to पुरुषम् 2/1
·         हि [hi] = indeed = अव्ययम्
·         [na] = not = अव्ययम्
·         व्यथयन्ति [vyathayanti] = affect = व्यथ् (1A) to be afflicted + णिच् (causative) + लट्/कर्तरि/III/1
·         एते [ete] = these = एतद् (pron. m.) + कर्तरि to व्यथयन्ति 1/3
·         पुरुषम् [puruṣam] = person = पुरुष (m.) + कर्मणि to व्यथयन्ति 2/1
·         पुरुषर्षभ [puruṣarṣabha] = O! The prominent among men (Arjuna) = पुरुषर्षभ (m.) + सम्बोधने 1/1
o   पुरुषाणाम् ऋषभःषष्ठीतत्पुरुषः
·         समदुःखसुखम् [samaduḥkhasukham] = the one who is same in pleasure and pain= समदुःखसुख (m.) + adj. to पुरुषम् 2/1
·         धीरम्  [dhīram] = one who is discriminating= धीर (m.) + adj. to पुरुषम् 2/1
·         सः [saḥ] = he = तद् (pron. m.) + कर्तरि to कल्पते  1/1
·         अमृतत्वाय [amṛtatvāya] = for gaining liberation= अमृतत्व (n.) + उपपदे to कल्पते 4/1
o   (वा०) कॢपिसम्पद्यमाने चतुर्थी वक्तव्या ।
·         कल्पते [kalpate] = is fit = कॢप् (1A) to be fit + लट्/कर्तरि/III/1
o   8.2.18 कृपो रो लः ।


Sentence 1 (यद्-clouse):
पुरुषर्षभ 8/1 एते 1/3 यम् 2/1 पुरुषम् 2/1 समदुःखसुखम् 2/1 धीरम् 2/1 0 व्यथयन्ति III/3
O! The prominent among men (पुरुषर्षभ 8/1)! These (एते 1/3) [pleasure and pain] do not ( 0) afflict (व्यथयन्ति III/3) the person (पुरुषम् 2/1), who is (यम् 2/1) same in pleasure and pain (समदुःखसुखम् 2/1) and the one who is discriminating (धीरम् 2/1).

Sentence 2 (तद्-clouse):
सः 1/1 हि 0 अमृतत्वाय 4/1 कल्पते III/1 ॥२.१५॥

He (सः 1/1) is indeed (हि 0) fit (कल्पते III/1) for मोक्ष (अमृतत्वाय 4/1).
