9th Chapter 18th Sloka

गतिर्भर्ता प्रभुः साक्षी निवासः शरणं सुहृत् ।

प्रभवः प्रलयः स्थानं निधानं बीजमव्ययम् ॥ ९.१८ ॥

 

gatirbhartā prabhuḥ sākṣī nivāsaḥ śaraṇaṃ suhṛt |

prabhavaḥ pralayaḥ sthānaṃ nidhānaṃ bījamavyayam || 9.18 ||

 

गतिः ^1/1 भर्ता ^1/1 प्रभुः ^1/1 साक्षी ^1/1 निवासः ^1/1 शरणम् ^1/1 सुहृत् ^1/1 ।

प्रभवः ^1/1 प्रलयः ^1/1 स्थानम् ^1/1 निधानम् ^1/1 बीजम् ^1/1 अव्ययम् ^1/1 ॥ ९.१८ ॥

 

·       गतिः [gatiḥ] = the result of all actions = गति (f.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       भर्ता [bhartā] = the one who nourishes = भर्तृ m. + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       प्रभुः [prabhuḥ] = the Lord = प्रभु (m.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       साक्षी [sākṣī] = the witness = साक्षिन् (m.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       निवासः [nivāsaḥ] = the abode = निवास (m.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       शरणम् [śaraṇam] = the refuge = शरण (n.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       सुहृत् [suhṛt] = the helpful by my very nature = सुहृद् (m.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       प्रभवः [prabhavaḥ] = the one from whom the whole creation has come = प्रभव (m.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       प्रलयः [pralayaḥ] = the one into whom everytings is resolved = प्रलय (m.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       स्थानम् [sthānam] = the one in whom everything has its being = स्थान (n.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       निधानम् [nidhānam] = the one into whom everytings is resolved = निधान (n.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       बीजम् [bījam] = cause = बीज (n.) + S.C. to अहम् 1/1

·       अव्ययम् [avyayam] = the imperishable = अव्यय n. + adj. to बीजम् 1/1

 

 

I am the result of all actions, the one who nourishes, the Lord, the witness. I am the abode, the refuge and I am the helpful by my very nature. I am the one from whom the whole creation has come, into whom everytings is resolved, and in whom everything has its being, in whom everything is placed and the imperishable cause.

 

Sentence 1:

गतिः ^1/1 भर्ता ^1/1 प्रभुः ^1/1 साक्षी ^1/1 ।

I am the result of all actions (गतिः ^1/1), the one who nourishes (भर्ता ^1/1), the Lord (प्रभुः ^1/1), the witness (साक्षी ^1/1).

 

Sentence 2:

निवासः ^1/1 शरणम् ^1/1 सुहृत् ^1/1 ।

I am the abode (निवासः ^1/1), the refuge (शरणम् ^1/1) and I am the helpful by my very nature (सुहृत् ^1/1).

 

Sentence 3:

प्रभवः ^1/1 प्रलयः ^1/1 स्थानम् ^1/1 निधानम् ^1/1 अव्ययम् ^1/1 बीजम् ^1/1 ॥ ९.१८ ॥

I am the one from whom the whole creation has come (प्रभवः ^1/1), into whom everytings is resolved (प्रलयः ^1/1), and in whom everything has its being (स्थानम् ^1/1), in whom everything is placed (निधानम् ^1/1) and the imperishable (अव्ययम् ^1/1) cause (बीजम् ^1/1).

 

 

किञ्च—

गतिः कर्मफलम् , भर्ता पोष्टा, प्रभुः स्वामी, साक्षी प्राणिनां कृताकृतस्य, निवासः यस्मिन् प्राणिनो निवसन्ति, शरणम् आर्तानाम् , प्रपन्नानामार्तिहरः । सुहृत् प्रत्युपकारानपेक्षः सन् उपकारी, प्रभवः उत्पत्तिः जगतः, प्रलयः प्रलीयते अस्मिन् इति, तथा स्थानं तिष्ठति अस्मिन् इति, निधानं निक्षेपः कालान्तरोपभोग्यं प्राणिनाम् , बीजं प्ररोहकारणं प्ररोहधर्मिणाम् , अव्ययं यावत्संसारभावित्वात् अव्ययम् , न हि अबीजं किञ्चित् प्ररोहति ; नित्यं च प्ररोहदर्शनात् बीजसन्ततिः न व्येति इति गम्यते ॥ १८ ॥
