2nd Chapter 54th Sloka



अर्जुन उवाच ।
स्थितप्रज्ञस्य का भाषा समाधिस्थस्य केशव ।
स्थितधीः किं प्रभाषेत किमासीत व्रजेत किम् ॥२.५४॥

arjuna uvāca |
sthitaprajñasya kā bhāṣā samādhisthasya keśava |
sthitadhīḥ kiṃ prabhāṣeta kimāsīta vrajeta kim ||2.54||

अर्जुनः 1/1 उवाच III/1
स्थितप्रज्ञस्य 6/1 का 1/1 भाषा 1/1 समाधिस्थस्य 6/1 केशव 8/1
स्थितधीः 1/1 किम् 0 प्रभाषेत III/1 किम् 0 आसीत III/1 व्रजेत III/1 किम् 0 ॥२.५४॥


·         अर्जुनः [arjunaḥ] = Arjuna = सञ्जय (m.) + कर्तरि to उवाच 1/1           
·         उवाच [uvāca] = said = वच् (2P) to say + लिट्/कर्तरि/III/1
·         स्थितप्रज्ञस्य [sthitaprajñasya] = of a person of firm wisdom = स्थितप्रज्ञ (m.) + 6/1
o   स्थिता प्रज्ञा यस्य सः स्थितप्रज्ञः । 116B
·         का [kā] = what = किम् (pron. f.) + 1/1
·         भाषा [bhāṣā] = description = भाषा (f.) + 1/1
·         समाधिस्थस्य [samādhisthasya] = of a person whose mind abides in the self = समाधिस्थ (m.) + 6/1
o   समाधौ तिष्ठति इति समाधिस्थः उपपदतत्पुरुषसमासः
·         केशव [keśava] = O! Keśava = केशव (m.) + सम्बोधने 1/1
·         स्थितधीः [sthitadhīḥ] = a person whose mind is not shaken by anything = स्थितधी (m.) + 1/1
o   स्थिता धीः यस्य सः स्थितधीः 116B
·         किम् [kim] = how = अव्ययम्
·         प्रभाषेत [prabhāṣeta] = would speak = प्र + भाष् (1A) to speak + विधिलिङ्/कर्तरि/III/1
·         किम् [kim] = how = अव्ययम्
·         आसीत [āsīta] = would sit = आस् (2A) to sit + विधिलिङ्/कर्तरि/III/1
·         व्रजेत [vrajeta] = would walk = व्रज् (1A) to walk + विधिलिङ्/कर्तरि/III/1
·         किम् [kim] = how = अव्ययम्


Arjuna said:
Oh! Keśava, what is the description of a person of firm wisdom, one whose mind abides in the self? How does such a person, whose mind is not shaken by anything, speak, sit, and walk?


Sentence 1:
अर्जुनः 1/1 उवाच III/1
Arjuna (अर्जुनः 1/1) said (उवाच III/1).

Sentence 2:
स्थितप्रज्ञस्य 6/1 समाधिस्थस्य 6/1 भाषा 1/1 का 1/1 केशव 8/1

O! Keśava (केशव 8/1), what (का 1/1) is the description (भाषा 1/1) of a person of firm wisdom (स्थितप्रज्ञस्य 6/1), one whose mind abides in the self (समाधिस्थस्य 6/1)?

Sentence 3:
स्थितधीः 1/1 किम् 0 प्रभाषेत III/1, किम् 0 आसीत III/1, किम् 0 व्रजेत III/1?
How (किम् 0) does such a person, whose mind is not shaken by anything (स्थितधीः 1/1), speak (प्रभाषेत III/1), sit (आसीत III/1), and walk (व्रजेत III/1)?
